Don E. Dussault:

God Day,
I would like to have "re-broadcasted", Dr. David Susuki,s, monolog that was given in 1997 at the "Port Moody Center". He talks about Global warming and that 1/2 the Nobel Peace Prize winners in the world believe it is "TOO LATE" to save the earth! He also mentions that our Governments are shooting all sorts of money towards the problem. Thats 10+ years ago? What does he say now?
Don E.

weather watcher :

If what Don says is right and this Susuki claims this, we caused global warming and it's too late to stop it. If we can't stop it HOW IN THE HELL DID WE CAUSE IT!?

Again if your going to censor me I'll quit commenting. That's the lefty way, silence dissent.

Laura Hannon:

weatherwatcher - again - one comment, on hold. Lighten up.

ProScienceSusan:

A very peculiar question. Life does not have an "undo" button and it's easy to cause things we can't fix. Raging at a friend sometimes takes years to heal, for example. Murder is irreversible. Hiroshima and Nagasake were irreversible. The tsunami and Himalayan earthquakes were irreversible.

That said, there are some things that can be done to "fix" global warming, but the big cures so far are worse than the disease. For example, huge volcanic eruptions have been known to lower the temperature, as has smog. There is a lot of good and hard work being done on this problem, and one of the best signs is that it has been profitable to work on it!

Extreme weather has been on the rise at an extraordinary rate; this is not a matter of opinion. Though anyone can say anything, people who say there have been no winds above 150 mph recently, no excessive rain, drought, wildfires, tornadoes, etc., etc., like holocaust deniers, are living in a fantasy world.

Robert E. Wozna:

Weather Watcher-If you want to know how we caused global warming (or added to the natural amount occuring) you only have to consult some respected scientific websites and you would find the answer. There are so many people who condemn the science as a hoax or as a way that scientists are making money (by being given monetary grants) and I'm sure they haven't checked sites like the National Academy of Science, World Meteorological Society or Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute because in their comments, they say nothing about the fact that earth's temperature rises and falls with the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere-and we are pouring large amounts of this greenhouse gas out with autos, etc., etc.

woodNfish:

ProScienceSusan: Apples and oranges. Your comparisons are ridiculous and your assertion about extreme weather is based on hysteria driven by the weather channel. There were no more hurricanes in 2005 than in other years. The only difference is how many people live on the coastlines.

"There is a lot of good and hard work being done on this problem, and one of the best signs is that it has been profitable to work on it!" Your economics are about as good as your junk-science.

R. Wozna: "earth's temperature rises and falls with the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere-and we are pouring large amounts of this greenhouse gas out with autos, etc., etc."

You ignore the fact that there are documented periods in earth's history, that predate mankind, when the levels of C02 were much higher, and the global temperature was much lower.

There is no science or technology in existence today that can prove that any global warming that may or may not be occurring is attributable to human causes.
