Darren:

There's nothing wrong with a company or person reducing their impact on the world. It is called being responsible. What is a problem is when change is mandated and governed in an inefficient manner. I diagree with the comment that companies will not change unless they are required to conform to some arbitrary and unproven cherry picked standard. The very fact that many companies are already making adjustments is proof. They understand that if customers are given a choice between company A, who is wasteful and neglectful of the environment, and company B, who is not, most people, including many so called "deniers", will choose company B. This assumes that price differences are not great.
